Upgrade to Lync 2013

UFIT has upgraded the UF Lync service to version 2013 over the weekend (June 27-29). Mobile users may need to update their Lync apps.

This change should be largely transparent to supported internal clients and should not require any reconfiguration, For more information, refer to the UF Microsoft Lync Migration FAQ.

Lync Mobile Clients

Users may need to update their Lync Mobile clients to the 2013 version in their relevant app store:

Third-Party IM Clients

Users of third party IM clients such as Pidgin and Adium should confirm that their account settings are configured to “Autodiscover”, that is, they should not reference servers by name. Any clients that are configured to point to a server by name may stop working when the Lync 2010 pool is decommissioned.

Impact on External Services

Please be aware of the following issues with external services:

  • AIM services may be impacted into the following week as AOL updates their Federation registry.
  • Microsoft Federation may be unavailable into the following week as Microsoft updates their Federation registry.
