Q: What is my Imagine login id/username?

A: For consistency the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has based your Imagine userid from the University’s gatorlink account system. Thus, your Imagine login id is your GatorLink email address ([gatorlink username]@ufl.edu). However, since Imagine is independent of the GatorLink system your password will be different. Please Note: you must have a GatorLink username in order to access software available through Imagine.

Q: What is my password?

A: CLAS IT has no way of identifying your password since this is a completely independent system (your ELMS password is not associated with any other account passwords, including your gatorlink password). Your initial password will be emailed to your gatorlink email address when your account is created. If you have forgotten your password you can have it mailed to you by selecting the forgot username or password link on the University of Florida – College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – Imagine site. Remember, your Imagine username is your gatorlink email address: [gatorlink username]@ufl.edu and your password will be emailed to this address.

Q: I forgot my password, how do I get a new one?

A: You can have your current password emailed to your gatorlink email address through the forgot username or password link on the University of Florida – College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – Imagine site

Q: I’m having trouble loging in, do I have an Imagine account?

A: First, be certain you are using the correct login id (being your gatorlink email address). You can use the forgot username or password link on the University of Florida – College of Liberal Arts and Sciences – Imagine site to verify your account information. If you are a faculty or staff member, your account will be activated and an email with your login information will be sent to your gatorlink email address.

Q: How long will my Imagine account be active?

A: Your Imagine account will be active as long as you are an eligible participant of the Imagine license… meaning as long as you are a current student with a declared major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, or employed by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

ELMS/Software Download Related

Q: What is ELMS?

A: ELMS is the (e)lectronic (l)icense (m)anagement (s)ystem used to distribute the software that is a part of the Imagine license. This system maintains an accurate record of software downloads and ensures the security of the Imagine license. Through ELMS an encoded file containing the program software is downloaded from a server located on the University of Florida campus and a license certificate is downloaded from the ELMS system. Both files combined allow you to install the software on your local computer.

Q: Where is the cd-key / product serial number?
A: The cd-key / product serial number is included in the Purchase Confirmation email you receive and the packing slip webpage that displays after you begin the download.

Q: I have more than one computer, can I install the same software on both/all of them?

A: You may install the software on any of the computers you own. In order to install more than once you must request a re-install through the Support section of the ELMS website. This system was designed this way to guard against abuse of the license.

Q: Where can I find help with technical issues?

A: Technical assistance is available through the UF Computing Help Desk or from reviewing the FAQ section on the Imagine site.

Q: Who is eligible to participate in this license?

A: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences departments and full/part time students and faculty, as well as students with a declared major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, can participate in this license.

Q: It’s the beginning of the semester and I am eligible, so why am I unable to login?

A: At the end of each year, Imagine access is wiped and then reloaded with the new class rolls. There is a lag between the time of the wipe and the reload while we wait for class rolls to be finalized (approximately 3 weeks into the semester). As long as you’re enrolled as a College of Liberal Arts and Sciences major, access will be granted to you.

Q: How will I know that I have been granted access?

A: An email will be sent to your Gatorlink email address when your account is activated for the semester.

Q: What software is included in this license?

A: Login to view available software.

Q: I can’t get in or the download does not start. What’s wrong?

A: Probably nothing. If you can’t get in or the download does not start, please be patient and try again later. They are likely experiencing very high usage levels.

Q: Where is the CD-key / product serial number?

A: The CD-key / product serial number is included in the Purchase Confirmation email you receive and the packing slip webpage that displays after you begin the download.

Q: Will Microsoft Office ever be included in the license?

A: The Imagine license is specifically for development software, not business applications. Thus, Microsoft Office will not be included in the Imagine license. Currently, there are no plans to participate in other licensing programs which may include Office.

Q: I have more than one computer; can I install the same software on both/all of them?

A: You may install the software on any of the computers you own, as long as they also conform to the Imagine usage guidelines. In order to install more than once, you must request a re-install through the Support section of the ELMS website. This system was designed this way to guard against abuse of the license.

Q: I am having trouble burning my CD. Can you help?

A: Due to the countless hardware and software variables involved, we can only provide general guidance about burning CD’s. Some helpful information and tips on CD burning are:

  • Try burning at a slower speed.
  • When burning a CD, try changing to mode 2.
  • Images from the Imagine CD’d may contain folder trees nested greater than eight levels or filenames greater than 100 characters (not ISO 9660 compatible).
  • An .img file can be safely renamed to a .iso file.
  • You cannot copy the files directly to your media. You must use software to burn the ISO image to the disc.

Q: How long can I use the software I installed?

A: You are able to continue to use indefinitely any software you install on your computer while you are an eligible participant of this license.

Q: Why is there only Microsoft software available?

A: The Imagine program is an arrangement made with Microsoft so it only involves Microsoft software. UF also has other programs giving access to other software, to see these please check the UF Software website.

Q: Is there a virus scanner available through Imagine?
A: Only Microsoft operating systems and development software is available through the Imagine. Virus scanning software as well as many other applications are available though the UF Software website.
