The new tools are part of the IBM Endpoint Management system and we have deployed the software to over 1500 CLAS-managed workstations as part of the UF Endpoint Management program.
The UFEM program is conducted in partnership with UFIT and this will allow CLAS IT to maintain security patches and updates for Windows and software on Macs. The tools also replace the anti-virus and PGP whole disk encryption products.
Now when CLAS IT deploys a suite of updates, users will see a new popup dialog box prompting them to restart the computer. Users can cancel this action, but they will eventually need to reboot in order for the updates to fully install.
The IBM Endpoint Management will never force a reboot, so if you are prompted, please restart the computer when you leave for the day.
