Wireless networking on UF’s campus is provided by UF’s Computer and Networking Services (CNS). CNS will provide additional wireless access points on campus for a fee.
Personal Wireless Access Points
Personal wireless network access points (Linksys, Netgear, Apple Airport, etc) are not permitted. Such access points can interfere with the official UF access points, due to the limited number of usable channels in the 2.4GHz spectrum. In addition, many such personal access points include embedded DHCP servers, which will interfere with the official CLAS IT DHCP servers.
Adding Wireless Access Points
CNS will provide additional wireless access points on campus for a fee. If you desire wireless access in an campus building currently without wireless signal, please consult with CLAS IT. We will work with CNS to obtain a price quote to install wireless service coverage for that location. Wireless service above the campus standard will require additional upfront and ongoing charges from your unit. Coverage maps and other information are available.
