CLAS IT has dedicated significant time, energy, and resources to enhancing the technology experience for our faculty, staff, and students. Each year, we continuously update technology in teaching spaces, conference rooms, and administrative areas across all departments within CLAS, and Fall 2025 is no exception. We collaborate with CLAS’s Facilities & Operations Manager, UFIT, and AT Learning Spaces Support Teams on various projects to bring IT projects to completion.
A few things to consider when thinking about A/V projects for your department:
- Budget – The primary consideration for technology projects is your unit’s budget. We will work with you to align your ideas with your financial goals. We also recommend exploring student technology fee grants, which can support innovative learning technology enhancements at UF. For additional information, visit: https://it.ufl.edu/about-ufit/student-technology-fee-grants/.
- Timeline – Depending on the scope of the upgrade, projects can take weeks to months to complete in some cases. This is due to the need to create proposals, purchase and order the technology, undertake potential space renovations, and coordinate with the Academic Technologies schedule.
- Potential Setbacks/Changes – We aim to anticipate any issues that may arise when assisting units with projects; however, it’s important to remember that unexpected problems can occur and affect the project’s budget and schedule.
One of our recent initiatives is the installation of OmniGlobe , an immersive 3D spherical display that will showcase real-time global data for the Department of Geography. This fall, think about ideas to improve instructional technology at UF.
