We understand that the fall 2020 semester will present unique challenges, but computer support will not be one of them. However, there are some changes you should be aware of.
Hours and Contact Information
CLAS IT continues to operate on our regular schedule M-F, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. We prefer that individuals open support tickets through our web-form, which is at https://it.clas.ufl.edu/forms, but we understand that is not always possible. During business hours we are also answering our main phone line, 352-846-1990.
Due to call volume, we request that individuals open support requests through the web-form or phone rather than emailing any particular technician directly.
Contact information for IT support in Academic Advising, Astronomy, BEBR, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology are listed at the bottom of this article.
Orange and Blue Teams
To maintain social distancing in the workspace, CLAS IT has split into two teams. The Orange and Blue teams work alternate days on campus. On days that a team is not on campus, the members of that team will continue to provide remote support via phone call, Zoom, email and Teams.
Respect the Guidelines
We are happy to provide in-person support to on-campus facilities, but we will need you to wear a mask while we are in your work area and we will wear a mask too. This is for our mutual safety — CLAS IT staff will not provide in-person support to any individual that is not wearing a mask. If you are unable to wear a mask, we will make an arrangement to work on your computer at a time when you are not present.
If there are any additional safety protocols that our teams need to follow while they are on-site assisting you, please let us know when we schedule the appointment.
Because we have split into two teams, the ability to provide in-person support will be diminished and it will be necessary to have an appointment for more complex computer support requests. However, we have improved our ability to provide remote assistance for simple tasks, such as installation of software, and our remote technicians are ready to assist you!
