IT Alerts: Important Information for PGP-encrypted Laptops

Updated: There is a bug in the latest update of the PGP software.  If your laptop is encrypted with PGP, select Update Policy before restarting your computer.

April 25, 2013 – This morning there was a problem with the PGP server managed by UFIT and, due to this problem, there is a risk that a Windows laptop encrypted with PGP will be temporarily unusable upon reboot. If this has happened, it will just require assistance from UFIT.  CLAS IT will work with you and UFIT to correct this problem in the event that your laptop falls into this unusable state.

In order to avoid this, follow these instructions for updating your PGP password before restarting. After the policy has been updated, you are free to reboot the laptop.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact Ken Sallot.
